The Beckwith Trust Renews Commitment to CLIP Portofino for the 2026 International Opera Season

The Beckwith Trust is pleased to announce its continued sponsorship of the CLIP International Opera Singing Competition in Portofino for its 2026 edition. As part of its global mission to nurture the next generation of lyrical artists, the Trust’s support remains a vital catalyst for young singers transitioning from academic study to the world’s most prestigious stages.

Since its inception in 2015, CLIP (Concorso Lirico Internazionale di Portofino) has established itself as a definitive landmark in the international opera calendar. Held in the iconic Ligurian village, the competition has attracted talent from over 70 nations, serving as a “direct and effective bridge” between emerging artists and the professional operatic market.

A Week of Excellence in Liguria

The 2026 competition will take place from July 21st to 26th, featuring an intense program of rehearsals and rounds designed to showcase the highest standards of vocal artistry:

  • July 22nd – 23rd: Elimination and Semifinal rounds at the Teatrino di Portofino.
  • July 24th: The Finals at the Teatro Sociale di Camogli.
  • July 26th: The grand Finalists Concert and award ceremony in the Piazza di Portofino, featuring the Orchestra of the Fondazione Carlo Felice di Genova.

Under the guidance of Artistic Director Francesco Daniel Donati and Jury President Dominique Meyer, CLIP provides participants with unprecedented exposure to directors from the world’s leading opera houses.

Fostering a Global Network of Talent

The Beckwith Trust’s partnership with CLIP is a key component of its philanthropic strategy to support “Supported Recipients” across the UK, Ireland, Italy, and Malta. By providing the bursaries and prizes that underpin such competitions, the Trust ensures that financial barriers do not hinder the progress of world-class talent.

In addition to CLIP, the Trust continues its holistic support of the Italian operatic landscape through its links with the Fondazione Mascarade Opera in Florence and the Rossini Opera Festival in Pesaro. These initiatives collectively provide a comprehensive ecosystem for young singers and répétiteurs to refine their craft alongside principal partners such as Teatro La Fenice.

Investing in the Future of Music

The Trust’s support for CLIP 2026 reinforces its commitment to excellence, professionalism, and, above all, respect for the artist. By fostering talent through these prominent platforms, the Beckwith Trust ensures that the future of opera remains vibrant, dynamic, and accessible to the most deserving young voices of our time.

“CLIP represents more than just a competition; it is a professional launchpad where quality and beauty meet. We are proud to support an initiative that carries such deep respect for the singer at its core.”
