Garsington Opera
2024 Opera Festival

This year’s festival performances run from 29 May – 31 July 2024

Garsington Opera, founded in 1989 by Leonard and Rosalind Ingrams, has grown into a renowned cultural event. After Leonard Ingrams’ passing, the festival found a new home at the Wormsley Estate in 2011, a testament to its enduring legacy and commitment to artistic excellence. The festival remains dedicated to creating a welcoming environment that supports artists and engages the community.

The 2024 Garsington Opera Festival promises a diverse repertoire, featuring Rameau’s Platée, Mozart’s Le nozze di Figaro, Britten’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Verdi’s Un giorno di regno, and Andrew Norman’s community opera, A Trip to the Moon. This season, running from May 29 to July 31, 2024, exemplifies Garsington’s dedication to both classical and contemporary works, offering a platform for innovative performances.

Integral to this season is the Alvarez Young Artists Studio, which introduces its 2024 cohort. These young artists will perform in various capacities, including principal roles, understudies, and chorus members. Their involvement extends beyond the main stage to Green Theatre recitals and rehearsal room activities, providing comprehensive professional development opportunities.

The Beckwith Trust’s support is pivotal in enabling these young performers to gain invaluable experience and exposure. This collaboration with Garsington Opera and the Alvarez Young Artists Studio exemplifies the Trust’s mission to foster young talent and ensure the future of opera remains vibrant and dynamic.

With this partnership, the Beckwith Trust continues to play a crucial role in shaping the careers of promising artists, while Garsington Opera upholds its tradition of excellence and inclusivity in the operatic arts.
