The Beckwith Trust Celebrates the Unveiling of the 2026 Rossini Opera Festival Programme

Rossini Opera Festival 2026 Beckwith Trust

The Beckwith Trust is proud to announce its continued patronage and support for the Rossini Opera Festival (ROF) as it prepares for its 47th edition in 2026. As a longstanding sponsor and dedicated patron of the Festival, the Trust remains committed to the preservation of Rossini’s extraordinary musical legacy and the cultivation of the world-class talent that brings his works to life in Pesaro.

The Trustees, who consider the annual pilgrimage to Pesaro a cornerstone of their cultural calendar, look forward to joining the international opera community from 11 to 23 August 2026 for a season of unparalleled artistry.

A Milestone Season: The 47th Edition

The 2026 programme, recently unveiled during the ROF Talks, promises an impressive lineup of twenty-two performances. The Festival will open at the Scavolini Auditorium with a brand-new production of Le Siège de Corinthe, conducted by Carlo Rizzi and directed by the visionary Davide Livermore—marking his fifth collaboration with the ROF.

Following the opening, the Rossini Theatre will host revivals of two landmark productions that have shaped the history of the Festival:

  • L’occasione fa il ladro: Originally directed by the legendary Jean-Pierre Ponnelle in 1987, this revival will be conducted by Alessandro Bonato.
  • La scala di seta: A celebrated production conceived in 2009 by Damiano Michieletto, which has since graced stages such as the Royal Opera House in Muscat, to be conducted by Iván López Reynoso.

Nurturing the Next Generation

A key pillar of the Beckwith Trust’s mission is the advancement of musical education and the transition of young artists into professional careers. In alignment with this goal, the 2026 programme prominently features Il viaggio a Reims, performed by the gifted young singers of the Accademia Rossiniana. This platform provides these emerging stars with the essential exposure and experience required to excel on the global stage.

The season will be further enriched by four Concerti di Belcanto and two Concerti Lirico-sinfonici, culminating in a grand finale: Rossini’s masterpiece, the Stabat Mater, conducted by Domingo Hindoyan.

A Legacy of Philanthropy

The Beckwith Trust’s support for the Rossini Opera Festival is part of a wider network of philanthropic efforts spanning the UK, Ireland, Italy, and Malta. By acting as a “bridge” for young performers, the Trust ensures that the technical brilliance and emotional depth of the Rossinian repertoire continue to thrive for future generations.

We invite fellow enthusiasts and friends of the Trust to join us in Pesaro for what promises to be an unforgettable celebration of music and heritage.
